Hi! Welcome. Let me do one of my least favorite things and talk about myself.
I was born in a little town just outside Hamburg, Germany, in the late 70s. When I was six years old, we got our first home computer (a Commodore 64), starting my interest in all things digital, including electronic music.
The second big time sink of my life became a roleplaying game called Das Schwarze Auge (The Dark Eye), which is Germany’s most popular tabletop RPG. I discovered the second edition starter box at a department store when I was 12. I was hooked all through high school and beyond.
On a trip to visit distant relatives in Canada in 1995, I learned about the internet. I spent the next several years freeform chat roleplaying on CompuServe forums.
In 2000, after finishing my bachelor-equivalent coursework at the University of Hamburg, I moved to Portland, Oregon, to be with the love of my life (and still am). I enrolled at Portland State University and got my M.A. in political theory and international relations.
I soon found the Forge, and with it, indie RPGs. This led to my wife and I releasing our first self-published indie RPG, Beast Hunters, in 2007. Since then, I’ve made great friends playing (mostly) small press games, and I’ve designed my fair share. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy traditional games; I’m currently running DnD 5e (the Princes of the Apocalypse module) for my youngest son and his friends.
As you can see, my creative interests are spread far and wide. And that’s what most of this site is about. Thanks for stopping by!
